Day 1

Hanoi → Ba Be Lake

Morning: Depart from Hanoi at 8 a.m., skirting city traffic before hitting quieter roads around Thai Nguyen.

Afternoon: Coast past spectacular mountain views, rolling into Pac Ngoi village by around 4 p.m.

Highlight: Ba Be Lake, Vietnam’s largest natural lake, ringed by limestone cliffs and primary forests.

Accommodation: Homestay in a local Tay village.

Distance: 240km

Day 2

Ba Be Lake → Dong Van via Meo Vac

Distance: 210km

Morning: Venture along lesser-known backroads, crossing streams and weaving through remote villages.

Lunch: Bao Lac Town.

Afternoon: Pass jaw-dropping mountain passes en route to Meo Vac.
